Week 1 in Puerto Rico: Shaping Athletes in the Land that Made Me.

It's been a week since I arrived in Puerto Rico, and this trip is unlike any other. This time, it’s not about visiting family or taking a vacation; it's about expanding my work with professional baseball athletes. From the moment I set foot on the island, it’s been an incredible experience filled with growth, learning, and meaningful connections.

Over the past few days, I’ve had the privilege of meeting professionals in various fields related to athletic performance—rehab experts, strength and conditioning specialists, former Major League Baseball players, and even current active players. The conversations I’ve had with them about throwing mechanics, hitting techniques, and strength training have been invaluable. Each discussion has deepened my understanding of the biomechanics of baseball and how I can better tailor my training programs for athletes.

One moment that stood out was meeting a young baseball player aspiring to make a career in this field. As we talked, I explained why I ask so many questions to pitchers and position players. It’s not just about learning coaching techniques; it’s about understanding how every movement in the game translates into the weight room. By connecting these dots, I can refine my approach to training, ensuring it’s intentional and effective. Growth is essential, and staying stagnant is never an option.

Sharing knowledge with other professionals and athletes has been a tremendous experience. Every interaction has a purpose, and every encounter adds to my knowledge and expertise. It’s been just five days on the island, and I’ve already learned so much and met so many incredible people. I can’t wait to see what the next week will bring.

A special shoutout goes to the Caguas Criollos for their warm welcome. Being around their clubhouse, meeting the players, coaching staff, and support personnel has been nothing short of amazing. Working in paradise truly is something else, and it’s even more special being back on the island that shaped me, now with the opportunity to continue growing and expanding my network.

I’d also like to extend my gratitude to Prohab, a training and rehab facility here in Puerto Rico, as well as K2 Training and RC Fitness. They’ve been instrumental in allowing Nelson Velazquez and me to continue the work we started in West Palm Beach. And of course, my thanks to the general manager, coaching staff, and clubhouse team of the Caguas Criollos for their incredible hospitality and for making me feel at home.

This trip has been a blessing so far. Every conversation, every connection, and every moment here has been productive and fulfilling. I look forward to what’s ahead, both in my work and in the relationships I’m building. Here’s to growth, collaboration, and making the most of every opportunity—even when you’re working from paradise.
